The Chess for New Millennia:

The game of chess is currently in a crisis. The reason being that it has been thoroughly examined, many positions have been classified. Furthermore, the memory of the players has become an important factor. Creativity no longer plays a large role in the game as it did before.

Chess is still a very interesting theme the appearance of new, never before seen positions plays a very important role in the process of the enjoyment of chess. Many Chessmasters understand the importance of new styles of chess. Some of then have even come up with their own versions.

However, the creation of new chess styles must be:

- more combination rich

- similar to traditional chess

Here are presented three new styles of chess: Golden Chess, Diamond Chess, and Star Chess.

They are built on the following principals:

- At the beginning the pieces must fill half of the board

- Maximal use of existing figures and rules, especially movements

- The board must be symmetrical

- In DIAMOND CHESS and STAR CHESS there will be a new type of figure, the Super Pawn. It can move like a normal pawn, but in addition it can make a move diagnally in either forward direction by one space.

For chess pieces we will use names from Wikipedia:

King = K

Queen = Q

Bishop = B

Knight = N

Rook = R

Pawn = P

Super Pawn = S it is a new piece

GOLDEN CHESS

Is played on a 12x8 board. It will be 12 units in width and 8 in depth. All the figures remain the same, the rules for piece movement also remain the same. The only addition is that the back line will have now have two more bishops and knights. On each side these additional pieces will be put beside their original counterparts.

Corresponding pieces positions are: (12x8 board)

P P P P P P P P P P P P

R N N B B Q K B B N N R

Possible modification: add two extra Rooks (14x8 board)

Possible light modification: add only extra Bishops (10x8 board)

DIAMOND CHESS

Is played on a 10x10 board. Each player will have three rows of pieces. The back line will have an additional two bishops placed along side the orignal ones. On the outsides of the middle line there will two normal pawns on each side. The remainder will be filled by six Super Pawns. The front line will have the central six positions occupied by traditional pawns and the remaining positions will be left empty. The rules piece movement otherwise reamin the same.

Corresponding pieces positions are: (10x10 board)
